Diamond Valley Lake Marathon

It was cold, rainy, hilly, windy and muddy with an occasional
torrential down pour but I finished.
I felt like a crazy person running in those conditions but I really wanted to run my marathon. I was soaked the first 5 minutes of the race and caked in mud. Most of the race was rainy and wet but for a brief ten minutes the sun came out and you could see a rainbow across the whole lake. That glimmer of hope was quickly followed by heavy rain. It was falling so hard I couldn't see in front of me and it actually stung when it hit my face.
My time was 4hrs. 5 mins.
35sec. My goal was to make it under 4hrs. but I didn't quite do it. My split time was 1hr 57min. It was hard to run fast with such strong headwinds and rough muddy terrain.
I didn't even run with my Ipod (too wet.)

I did however beat my other goal, which was to beat Paul's marathon time. I shattered his time by three whole minutes. Four months of training really paid off.

Looking at that map makes me want to take a nap! 4hrs 5 minutes is an awesome time, especially in that weather and especially since that was your FIRST MARATHON!!!! Do you have any idea how amazing you are? Congrats again on an awesome finish!!
